Stosur v Halep is covered for SHARK TIPS subscribers. I am expecting a close one as both have been hot this week. Both players are unbeaten in finals this year with Halep taking 4 titles to Stosur’s 2.
Update: Halep won 7-6, 6-2. A winner for SHARK TIPS @ 1.90
In the other Moscow final Gasquet takes on the surprise finalist Kukushkin.
Kukushkin has played 7 matches this week as he came through the qualifying rounds. He beat defending champion Seppi in the semi final. They exchanged 6-1 sets in the first 2 and he came back from a break down with 4 straight games. Seppi then put the set back on serve but was broken at 4-5.
When Seppi’s serve found it’s target Kukushkin was in trouble and Gasquet has been serving well this week. He overcame Karlovic in the semi final.
Gasquet starts at 1.27 but I don’t think this is going to be as straight forward as we might expect. Kukushkin seems to play his best tennis in Russia and his only previous ATP title came in St Petersburg where he beat Youzhny in the final. Youzhny was ranked 10 at the time as Gasquet is today!
I’ll wait for a higher entry price on Gasquet as it really is his to win or lose.
Update: Gasquet won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Haase and Haas finally meet!
Tommy Haas starts as favourite but he has been doing things the hard way all week. He needed a 3rd set tie break to beat Rosol, a tie break against Stepanek and scraped past Mecir 7-5, 7-6 in the second round having to save set points in both sets.
Haase has taken 3 sets to beat Bozoljac, Pospisil and Fognini and took out Tsonga in a tight 2 setter in the semi final.. When Haase gets on a roll he be a tough opponent.
Haas at his best would warrant his 1.40 starting price but if he has struggled against those opponents this week his struggle will continue today.
Expect a tight match with close sets. Haase has lost all 3 of his finals this year. Haas has taken 1 of his 2 finals with a win over Kohlschreiber in Munich.
Common sense tell me Haas takes this but his price is crazy. In the last 3 months against common opponents Haase posted slightly better stats.
3 sets. Value is on Haase.
Update: Haase took an early lead but Haas came back to take the set.
Haas won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
It seems we were a little quick to write Ferrer off. His semi final was going almost exactly as I expected for two sets. I wasn’t able to watch the third set. I had to follow the score on my phone and kept tapping the screen as it was clearly wrong.
Dimitrov fought hard to get past Paire in their semi final. he hasn’t reached many finals but performs well when he gets there. His most recent was a 7-6, 6-4 loss to Murray in Brisbane.
Ferrer has won all their 3 previous meetings and Dimitrov has taken just 1 set.
They haven’t played this season and I think this one will be close. Ferrer has shown he isn’t ready to give up on himself just yet and I have to go with his greater experience of big matches. His price should be nearer 1.70 for me though.
Update: Over 22.5 games was a winner for SHARK TIPS subscribers.
Dimitrov won 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
