Dubai, 11:00 – Rosol and Tursunov have played each other 3 times before. Tursunov leads 2-1 but the most recent meeting which was in January went to 3 sets.
Tursunov pulled out of the doubles in Rotterdam with a reported leg injury. He seemed ok against Lacko but that’s something to watch out for.
Rosol’s loss to Tursunov in Sydney sparked a run of 5 defeats which was broken this week when he beat Brands in straight sets. Rosol seems to be the type of player who will be motivated by thoughts of revenge so I expect him to be fired up for this one.
It is really hard to pick a winner. Both are very capable of taking it si I feel Tursunov has to be a lay as he starts at 1.47 . Ideally we will be able to get on him below 1.30 in the early games.
That was the only match other than those covered for the Shark Tips service that really interest me before this evening. Kohlschreiber should be too strong for Seppi although the Italian’s form improved as his match with Mayer progressed. 1.40 is no value on the German though.
WTA Brazil, 18:00 – Dulgheru is having a good week. She came through the qualifying rounds with a couple of three setters to improve her timing and get her used to conditions. She then had a straight sets win over another qualifier Duque Marino.
Her opponent today is local favourite Pereira who had an excellent week last week on the clay reaching the semi finals. She isn’t quite as accomplished on the faster hard courts.
Pereira has better numbers on serve but Dulgheru is better on return.
Dulgheru has the better hard court game and starts at 1.90 which looks like a great price.
Mexico, 22:00 – Chardy and Dolgopolov have played twice already this season. Chardy won them both. In their hard court match at the Australian open he won 3-1. Three of the sets were tie breaks and the other was 7-5.
Dolgopolov must be ready for a rest. He doesn’t often go deep into tournaments so reaching the final last week and playing Nadal will have left him with heavy legs.
Chardy had a solid win over Ebden in the last round which ended with a bagel in the second set.
Chardy has won 3 of the 4 matches these two have played on hard courts. I don’t think Dolgopolov will worry too much if he goes out today. Dolgopolov starts at 1.80 .
Brazil, 22:00 – I’m not sure what Haas is doing in Mexico but I’m sure he won’t want to travel all that way to lose to Starace.
Starace is a clay specialist. He has come through 3 qualifying rounds to reach the main draw although 2 of his opponents were never going to trouble him. He came through his round 1 match in 3 sets.
Haas retired in Melbourne with a shoulder injury. He then reached the final in Zagreb. In Rotterdam he had a hard fought win over Verdasco but since then hasn’t shown us his best tennis. The transition from hard court to clay will take a few games of match play and I can see him starting slowly. WE should see a higher price on him during the first set. I will need to see how he plays at the start but a lay seems a decent option at 1.40.
