Nishikori beat Federer. Didn’t see that coming! Cibulkova made us sweat but saved match points in the second set to win in 3. That was a nice result for the Shark Tips subscribers.
17:00 – S Williams v Sharapova
Serena leads the head to heads 15-2. She can sometimes be caught napping against low ranking players and comes onto court not ready mentally for the start of the match. Don’t expect that to be the case today. She loves beating Sharapova and I expect her to be very aggressive and very loud.
I don’t see a surprise result in this one.
19:00 – Dolgopolov v Berdych
The rest seems to have done Berdych some good and he is back on top form. He has played Dolgopolov 3 times. Bizarrely all 3 matches were in Canada! The only recent match was last August in Montreal and he won in straight sets.
Both players are playing some of the best tennis of their careers. Despite claiming to be tired and ready for a rest Dolgopolov took down Wawrinka in the 4th round.
Berdych starts around 1.38 but I would be surprised if we don’t see a higher price. I think Berdych will be too consistent though and his serve can get him out of any trouble he might get into.
No value at SP but I’ll be on Berdych if he goes break point down.
23:00 – Nadal v Raonic
They have played 4 times. Nadal won them all in straight sets. Their most recent meeting was the Montreal Final last August.
Nadal is one of the best when taking on a big server. His own serve is working well. This is a really bad match up for the Canadian. His best hope is for tie breaks. Having said that, he hasn’t managed to reach a tie break in any of their previous 8 sets.
It is worth a lay at 1.15 but don’t get greedy!
