After that Sharapova v Kuznetsova match anything can happen today!
ATP Madrid Open, 16:00 – Isner v Berdych
Berdych leads 6-2. He has won their last 4 including in straight sets at last year’s French Open.
Both are big men better known for their booming serves but they are both at home on clay. The Madrid altitude doesn’t hurt their serves either!
It was a good win for Isner over Kyrgios though he has lost tie breaks in both of his last 2 matches.
Berdych had an early break against Tsonga but couldn’t hold on to it. Tsonga had chances to go a break ahead later in the set but failed. It was a much easier second set for Berdych.
Berdych is too low at 1.30 and is worth a lay around 1.20 . You could lay at the start as a tie break would surprise no one. That is up to you. I always look for the best value. Isner’s only realistic chances for sets are tie breaks.
Berdych to win a tight match.
ATP Madrid 2015, 20:30 – Ferrer v Nishikori
Nishikori leads the head to heads 7-4. Ferrer won their most recent match which was in February in 2 sets on a hard court.
Only once has Nishikori won in straight sets. That was at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Nishikori was very poor in their last meeting but has looked good on the clay so far. He reached the final last year and if he hadn’t been injured I think he’d have beaten Nadal as he was the stronger player on the day.
Ferrer will always have a chance on clay and playing at home won’t hurt his chances. No value at all for me on Nishikori at 1.44 . It could be worth laying Nish below 1.30 though I expect him to win the match.
