13:00 – Schuettler v Querrey
Rankings are 82 and 23. Head to heads are 1-1.
Schuettler came through a tight match against Sela last night. He was the more positive player. He has also beaten Monfils this week.
Querrey likes to use his big serve to keep the games short. He has played some very solid tennis this week without really being tested.
Querrey wins 86% of his service games. Schuettler will also have to serve well to keep himself in this match.
If Querrey is a little off his best then Schuettler has a chance but it should be the American who goes through to the final.
Back Querrey on serve or from the start.
Update: Querrey served well throughout the match but struggled to break serve until late in the second set.
Querrey won 6-7, 7-5, 6-3.
15:00 – Lopez v Fish
Rankings are 31 and 90. Head to heads are 2-2 with Fish winning their last 2 matches.
No one expected these two players to be in the semi finals. Lopez has yet to lose a set and beat Nadal yesterday.
Fish beat Murray in the third round which wasn’t quite so much of a surprise and beat Llodra in the quarter final in straight sets.
The market has Fish as a slight favourite at 1.80 . That’s probably an appropriate starting price. Lopez wins 85% of his service games and can be difficult to break when serving well. He does have a tendancy to put in a couple of great performances and then follow it up with a nightmare.
Fish, as I have said before, isn’t one of my favourite players. He always seemed a bit of a joke to me and I don’t just mean his name. However recently he has been playing some great attacking tennis and is playing above his ranking.
Lopez needs his serve to be good. If it isn’t then I expect Fish to take this. If both men bring their A game to the court then it will be very close.
Update: Very impressive from Fish. Great serving and he always seemed to have the edge.
He won 6-3, 6-4.
I haven’t been able to trade this week until yesterday evening so am happy with the return.
