ATP Swiss Open, Gstaad: Ramos v Verdasco

Due to start at 4:30 pm

Ramos 2.16, Verdasco 1.85

Verdasco leads their previous matches 5-3. The last time they met was last week in Bastad, Sweden. Ramos won in straight sets on a clay court. Verdasco had a medical timeout in that match.

Their overall results are quite even in the last 12 months. Ramos has better clay results in the last year and also in 2019.

Ramos reached the semi finals last week. Two weeks before that he reached another semi final. That one was in a clay Challenger in Italy. He had a weak season in 2018 but is back near his best this year.

Verdasco has been a little inconsistent this season. He has had some excellent results including the third round in Madrid and Quarter Finals in Rome on clay. He also has a decent grass season and reached the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Verdasco was defending semi final ranking points last week so his bad performance was most likely due to injury. We don’t know what shape he is in today but I would have given Ramos a strong chance anyway. Lay Verdasco around 1.65. Remove some liability at 2.20
