12:00 – Zeballos v Kohlschreiber
Rankings are 49 and 35. Head to heads are 1-0 to Kohlschreiber ( Oz Open this year )
Zeballos hasn’t enjoyed too much success so far on the clay although he took a set from Isner in Rome. He wins 75% of his service games.
Kohlschreiber had his best tournament of the year at Monte Carlo where he beat Bellucci, Murray and Petzschner and pushed Ferrer close in the quarter finals. He also reached the quarter finals in the BMW Open 2 weeks ago.
Kohlschreiber wins 81% of his service games. Back him on serve.
Update: Kohlschreiber won 6-3, 6-4.
16:00 – Chardy v Troicki
Rankings are 47 and 40. Head to heads are 1-0 to Chardy ( 4 years ago on carpet).
Chardy has taken a few top scalps this season on clay including Kohlschreiber, Tipsarevic and Montanes. He wins 72% of his service games.
Troicki is definately favourite for me. He has been unfortunate to get some higher ranked players in the early rounds of tournaments but has come close to upsetting some of them. He took Monaco to 3 sets yesterday, took Almagro to a tie break, and pushed Wawrinka all the way to a tie break in the third set.
Troicki wins 76% of his service games.
Back Troicki on serve. If Chardy starts well he can also be backed on serve but I expect Troicki to win the match. It should be quite close though.
Update : Troicki broke serve in the frst game of the match but Chardy soon broke back. The rest of the set was close until Troicki broke again for a 5-4 lead. He held serve to take the set.
In the second it was close until Troicki broke for a 3-2 lead. Chardy didn’t win another game after that.
Troicki won 6-4, 6-2.
