ATP World Tour Finals: Nadal v Zverev

Rafael Nadal 1.47, Alexander Zverev 3.05

Round Robin Stage

Due to start at 8 pm

Nadal has won all 5 of their previous matches. They last played on clay in Rome in May 2018. They met in the final and Nadal won in 3 sets.  Their last 3 matches were on clay. The others were both on hard courts and went to a deciding set.

Nadal has stronger indoor results although doesn’t play many indoor tournaments. He reached the semi finals in Paris last month but withdrew before the match.  Nadal isn’t at his best at the end of the season. He also doesn’t really like the courts at the O2 Arena. He has had some great results there and has reached the final a couple of times. but has only played one match there in the last 3 seasons.

Zverev won this tournament last season. He had also been eligible to play the Next Gen Finals and understandably chose to play the main event. It proved to be a great decision. He lost to Djokovic in the round robin matches but beat him in the final.

I expect Zverev to give Nadal some problems tonight. Lay Nadal around 1.30 to 1.35 and remove liability at 1.70. Lay the set 1 winner.

Update: Vert strong performance from Zverev. Nadal was not at his best as expected but never went below 1.40.

Zverev won 6-2, 6-4.
