Midnight – Youzhny v Kubot
Rankings are 20 and 86. They’ve never met.
Youzhny has a decent serve which seems to be working well enough this week. On his day he can steamroller straight through Kubot but the Pole has come through a couple of rounds so must be in decent form too.
Youzhny’s price is a little low to use the Back the Server strategy. He had a great win against Gasquet when he came back from 2 sets down so he has to be a huge favourite here.
I will be watching the first 2 or 3 games to get a feel for their form. If Youzhny is on top I will be backing him and greening up after the first set.
Update: Youzhny pulled out with a wrist injury.
01:30 – Radwanska v Schiavone
Rankings are 10 and 18. Head to heads are 3-0 to Schiavone.
Both have reached this stage fairly comfortably and there isn’t really too much between them. Both are more than capable of taking this match.
On this season’s form Radwanska perhaps has a slight edge and the market seems to agree with me. She is currently at 1.58.
An ideal match for scalping or the 15-40. Don’t stay in a trade too long as there could be some decent price swings in this one. You don’t want to risk being on the wrong side of one. Take your profit each time and wait for the next opportunity.
Update: Radwanska was poor and Schiavone looked the stronger player pretty much from the start.
Schiavone won 6-2, 6-2.
05:30 – Almagro v Falla
Rankings are 25 and 77. They have never met.
Almagro had a decent season last year and has started 2010 in good form too. He has had a couple of tough 3 set matches to get to this round so may be a little tired.
Falla has yet to drop a set and has had to beat arguably stronger opponents.
I think this could be a close match and if it looks like going the distance then fatigue could be a factor and it wil work in Falla’s favour.
I feel that if Almagro is to come through he needs to race through the match. I’m not sure Falla will allow him to do so.
As their prices are quite even with Almagro at 1.70 , I will be watching the opening games before taking a position. I’ll be looking at body language and serve quality.
I’d give Falla a slight edge but this really could go either way.
Update: Falla probably looked the stronger player at the start but Almagro soon caught him up. Both players were hitting the ball well but Falla made a few more unforced errors than his opponent.
Once Almagro had taken a tight first set he started to relax a bit more and was really striking the ball well.. He managed to just keep his nose in front in each set and won the match 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.
I will be in the chat room all night and am intending to post a link allowing people to watch my screen. All welcome.
The screen sharing software wasn’t improving the poor refresh rates of the trading software and i had to cancel the screen sharing to allow me to trade properly. The live streams from bet365 were very very poor. No doubt it was down to the volume of viewers but I can’t see how they can justify charging forstreams that are far inferior to their normally excellent free streams.
Even so, not a bad night’s work.
