So the Betdaq account is loaded up and the Geek’s Toy installed. Lets hope enough traders use tonight to have a proper look at the other exchange.
Click the banner on the left hand side if you don’t yet have an account. Come and have a look even if its only for a couple of matches.
Stepanek v Malisse:
Stepanek leads the head to heads 4-3 and he won their most recent match 2 years ago.
Malisse lost to Goffin in Chennai which was reportedly due to a stomach complaint but I think the very hunid conditions didn’t help him. Sydney is a different climate and they certainly won’t be playing in 95% humidity.
Malisse ended 2011 playing pretty good tennis and hopefully he is fit again and able to make a contest of this one.
Stepanek suffered with a knee injury in his last match against Dolgopolov having won the first set. If that makes an appearance today he may not want to risk making it worse so watch out for signs of pain on his face ( although with his face that isn’t easy! )
As long as Malisse is over his stomach complaint he will be my favourite for this one.
Update: Matches were untradeable on Daq.
Stepanek won 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Halep v Begu:
This is Halep’s third match of the year. She lost to Clijsters in her first and then beat Zakopalova in a tight three setter.
Begu has played just 1 match so far against Baltacha which she won in straight sets. She starts today’s match as slight favourite and I expect quite a close match with 3 sets quite possible.
Halep has won 5 of her last 6 matches where her opponent was a fellow Romanian.
My gut feeling is Begu to win but the stats point to a Halep victory. Usually when thats the case my gut feeling is correct. I will wait to see how they both start from the service line as they are both very good returners and serve will be a key element.
Update: My gut feeling’s are a little out of sync at the moment.
Halep won 6-4, 6-2.
