TradeShark Diary, 2nd July 2020

There hasn’t been much news in the last couple of days. Some good news is that we are now just a month away from the main tour tennis events starting up again! The WTA are first with Palermo in Italy. The WTA website also shows two tournaments in America for that week. The Citi Open in Washington has “Pending” next to it and there is also the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in California. California is one of the worst places in America in terms of Covid-19 cases so that one has to be doubtful.

In the last 2 days I have traded the WTA matches in the Czech Republic Tipsport Elite Classic exhibition. Top players were taking part and the matches were excellent to trade. I had intended to post advice for today’s matches there but the event seems to have ended! There are some good looking matches in America tomorrow evening that I will post about as long as they are not messing with the rules too much.

There are now only 3 patients on the Covid-19 ward in Worcester hospital. The end of all this crap is in sight. The pub’s open on Saturday. I won’t be going as I can see people going a bit crazy. From a selfish point of view it might move the idiots away from the street for a few hours.

The offer of 1 month free trading tips emails with the Trading Guide will end on 14th July. Don’t miss out if you haven’t already signed up.

TradeShark Diary, 30th June 2020

So Leicester have had lockdown rules tightened. No one is allowed in or out. Good luck with that. Their pubs and hairdressers etc will not reopen for at least an extra 2 weeks after other areas. Good luck with that too. Leicester residents are bound to travel a few miles if they are desperate to visit a pub. Just how bad have Leicester folk been during lockdown? The locals in Worcester have been pretty bad although perhaps my perception is flawed due to being surrounded by the muppets. Someone who lives round the corner was telling me how quiet their lockdown had been.

I have suspected all along that the local pub was serving drinks. We have been told that they never actually closed! There have been lock-ins every night. Surely they would not have had enough stock to serve customers for over 3 months. Again, just how bad have they been in Leicester??

Alexander Zverev was one of the players at the Adria Exhibition where several people tested positive for Covid-19. He vowed to self isolate for 14 days Yet just a few days later he was filmed at a party at the Anjuna Private Club. He tried to delete the evidence from his Instagram account but Ben Rothenberg tweeted the video.

I traded a couple of tennis matches today from the Tipsport Elite Trophy in the Czech Republic. My first trades for a couple of weeks. First up was Alexandrova v Kr Pliskova. Alexandrova started as slight favourite but doesn’t have a great record on clay against main tour players. Pliskova had beaten her earlier this month, also on clay. I had a part lay on Alexandrova near the start of the match and Pliskova took the set 6-0 which was nice! I hedged at 4-0. In the second set I laid Pliskova when she took the first break of serve. Alexandrova took the set. Pliskova took the match with the match tie break 3rd set.

I missed the start of the Kvitova v Vondrousova match. Vondrousova hasn’t had great results this year after wrist surgery. She took the first break of serve which is when I first looked at the match. I couldn’t find a live stream. Backed Kvitova at 1.81 and 1.91. She broke back for 3-3. She held for 4-3 and was 0-40 on Vondrousova’s next service game. I hedged which proved to be a good move as Vondrousova held serve and then broke the Kvitova serve and went on to take the set. Kvitova must have been injured as her serve fell apart and she didn’t hold once in set two.

Stay safe.
