Brisbane International – Friday

09:00 – Roddick v Gasquet

Rankings are 6 and 52. Head to heads are 2-1 to Roddick although they haven’t played since 2007.

Roddick seems in decent form and has one of the best serves on the tour. He made a slow start in his last match and was taken to a tie break. He came through in straight sets but Gasquet has the ability to take advantage if Roddick does the same today.

Options are to back Roddick on serve but the number of ticks per game will be low unless he wins each game to love. You could back Roddick from the start and green up when he breaks serve.

You also have the option of waiting until there is a break of serve but be careful if it is Gasquet who breaks as I expect Roddick to come back quickly, especially if it is early in the first set.

I expect at least one of the sets to be close. Its more liikely to be the first. Roddick should come through and if his serve is working anything like its best he should be comfortable.

Update: Roddicks came through 6-3, 7-5.
