Its been an odd week so far. Players who are going to the Olympics have shown low motivation in a lot of cases especially those playing on clay this week. Quite a few dogs winning which is great if you can pick them out! I’m gutted I missed Robson yesterday. I was all ready to trade it with the stream playing and then decided I’d had a good day already and really needed to eat something. When I checked the score she was 4-0 up! She came through to win in straight sets against Vinci in Italy. Great result.
Ramos and Dimitrov should have a close match. Ramos started quite passively against Korolev but still came through comfortably in the end. Dimitrov wasn’t overly impressive in his straight sets win over Gil. Dimitrov starts as favourite at 1.70 but I slightly favour Ramos. He can’t afford a slow start in this one though as Dimitrov is a decent front runner.
Update: Ramos got the first break but was broken back. Dimitrov took the set in a tie break.
Dimitrov won 7-6, 6-3.
Dustin Brown has beaten Garcia Lopez on clay in the past. He has won both matches this week in 3 sets against higher ranked opponents but I don’t think he will come through this one. Garcia Lopez played some great tennis in his last match although went to sleep a little in the second set. I’ll be looking for another fast start from Brown though and 1.39 is a little too low on GGL. Lay from the start but don’t get greedy.ame I switched to GGL
Update: Brown just didn’t look like his mind was on the job and after the first game I switched to GGL. Brown had a nightmare set and lost it 6-0. He was lucky to get 0.
He kept it closer in the second set but GGL won 6-0, 6-3.
Almagro had problems with his shoulder yesterday and looked like he was going out to Minar when he lost the opening set 1-6 and had an MTO. However the Spaniard played through the pain and his greater experience carried him through. Gimeno Traver has beaten him twice before including once on clay. He has been playing solid tennis this week and if Almagro isn’t 100% this could get interesting. I’m looking for another slow start from Almagro from a starting price of 1.34 .
Update: Very poor match from Almagro. He came close to losing the first set but won it in a tie break. Gimeno Traver came back to level at 1 set all. In the end Almagro scraped through.
Almagro won 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
Dolgopolov played some fantastic tennis to beat Fognini and has to be strong favourite against Berlocq today. 1.50 isn’t great value though as Berlocq is strong on clay. I will be looking to get on Dolgopolov at a higher price. He is defending champion and this is his only title. He looks very focused ( on court at least ) and won’t let this one go easily.
Update: Tight match. Dolgopolov won 6-4, 6-4.
