German Open – Wed

17:00 –  Petzschner v Chardy

Rankings are 37 and 73. Head to heads are 2-1 to Petzschner.

Looking at stats for the last 3 months Petzschner has hit 58% of first serves to Chardy’s 56% and has won 75% of points following a successful first serve ( Chardy 72%).

Points won on serve are 64% and 62% respectively which is average for the top players.

Either player is capable of winning today but I think Petzschner has the edge due to home advanatge. He is becoming more consistent and usually does well when priced as favourite ( he has won 5 in a row when favourite)

Betfair has them pretty even with Petzschner at 1.79 .

Back Petzschner on serve.

Update: Chardy won 6-3, 6-3.

18:30 – Chela v Kohlschreiber

Rankings are 53 and 35. Head to heads are 1-0 to Chela.

Kohlschreiber is on home soil amd starts as favourite. He  lost in the first round last week in the Mercedes Cup to Mayer. He reached the third round at Wimbledon and Roland Garros but has been below his best.

Chela’s game is perhaps more suited to clay and has a decent record on this surface this season winning 18 from 28 matches.

Kohlschreiber will be keen to do well in front of his home crowd espeecially after his early exit last week.

Both players serve well but Kohlschreiber posts slightly better serving stats winning 63% of points on serve.

This could easily go to three sets. Watch the opening couple of games to see whether Kohlschreiber starts well and if he does then back him on serve.

Kohlschreiber has a slight edge here.

Update: Kohlschreiber won 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
