18:00 – McHale v Paszek
Rankings are 128 and 151. They haven’t played before.
McHale made short work of local girl Glatch yesterday to show she is in a spell of good form. Paszek still hasn’t lost a set this week.
If you look at stats for just the last week you will see that McHale has been serving well and has held serve 90% of the time. She wins 72% of points on her first serve and 67% on second serve.
Paszek has been better on return of serve.
McHale has saved 70% of break points against her compared to 47% by Paszek.
Tough to pick a winner here but going with the stats from this tournament I am going for McHale.
15-40’s in favour of McHale will be fine and scalping will also work well. If Mchale gets a break of serve you could allow her to hold serve but do so at your own risk ( this IS WTA!!)
Midnight – Mattek-Sands v Safarova
Rankings are 71 and 28. Head to heads are 2-0 to Safarova.
Both have served well enough and have held serve 84% and 85% of the time. Mattek-Sands has won 59% of points on her second serve which is excellent.
Mattek-Sands has been attacking second serves this week and has won 59% of points against her opponent’s second serve.
She has also converted a higher percentage of break point chances.
Safarova is a strongish favourite on Betfair at 1.59 but I feel today will be Mattek-Sands chance to get revenge for their previous meetings. I give her a defnate edge.
Scalping again for this match and 15-40’s can be taken although if Mattek- Sands is ahead and there is a 15-40 opportunity against her then be wary of taking it.
