I woke up feeling pretty lousy. I haven’t been able to shift the headache so staring at PC screens isn’t pleasant.
There aren’t many matches today so just some brief thoughts….
The last time Errani played Sharapova the first set went to a tie break. Shara starts at 1.16 so if we can lay below 1.10 we may get the chance for some profit. I would imagine no one expects Sharapova to lose although doubt many expected Djokovic to lose last night either.
Update: The majority of games were very tight but Sharapova was managing to get the vital points. She won the first set. In set 2 it was again tight but Errani manged to get a couple of set points. She wasn’t able to convert and Sharapova edged it.
Sharapova won 7-5, 7-5.
Is Melzer able to be consistent enough to beat Ferrer? Probably not. Melzer has produced some excellent tennis in all hi matches and 1.10 is worth a lay. We’ll need a bit of luck that he plays the best tennis at the start which he most certainly didn’t do against Ramos.
Update: Melzer started in superb form and took the opening set. Towards the end of that set Ferrer was starting to get on top and it wasn’t a surprise when he took the second set. Ferrer stepped up a couple of gears in the deciding set.
Ferrer won 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Jankovic has lost her last 2 matches against Vinci but has been in excellent form in Miami and has a great chance today.
Vinci was outplayed by Cornet in the opening set of their 4th round match. In fact she has lost the first set in every match so far.
I expect Jankovic to be too strong for Vinci today but I would prefer a price above evens. JJ starts at 1.87 so we should get to lay Vinci at 1.70 .
Update: A tight match with jankovic dominating the early stages. Vinci hung in there and levelled at 1 set each in a second set tie break. Jankovic was able to take the 3rd.
Jankovic won 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Head’s killing me. Haas to beat Simon but I want at least 1.85 on him.
Update: Total dominance from Haas.
Haas won 6-3, 6-1.
