12:45 – Berrer v Troicki
Rankings are 65 and 31. Head to heads are 2-0 to Berrer although they haven’t played for a couple of years.
Betfair has Troicki as favourite at 1.63 but I’m not so sure. he often fades as the week progresses and has yes to win a title on the ATP tour.
I traded Berrer’s match against Tipsarevic and also Troicki’s game against Kukushkin. Of the 2 I would say berrer is the form player.
Both players can throw down a decent serve when they’re in trouble so be careful of 15-40 opportunities. Watch how the opening games go and if all is well with Berrer’s serve i would be looking to back him on his own service games.
I can see it going to 3 sets or at least 2 close ones. I am slightly favouring Berrer.
18:00 – Melzer v Marchenko
Rankings are 32 and 102. They haven’t met.
Marchenko plays more on the Challenger tour and I think he’ll struggle against Melzer.
Melzer has a solid, consistent serve and is worth backing on his service games. His ground strokes should give him a straight forward victory today.
Another option is to back Melzer from the start and green up when he wins the first set. There have been some odd results this week but I really don’t think this is going to be one of them. Make sure you have your plan in place for if the incredible happens and he loses the first set. ( Members should check out the relevent section in the members area)
