15:00 – Williams v Williams
Rankings are 2 and 7. Head to heads are 13-10 to Serena.
Serena, soon to become world number 1, has won their last 3 matches. However 3 of the last 4 matches went to 3 sets. The other match was the Wimbledon final where the first set was a tie break.
So chances are we are looking at a tight 3 set encounter. As Serena beat her sister this week in the round robin section she has to be favourite. She is 1.60 on Betfair.
A few options as far as trading is concerned. Serena has a huge serve so you could actually back her on serve ( not many WTA players that I would recommend this on!)
If you’re feeling brave you could back Serena from the start but as I expect a 3 setter, even if she does win the match, by the end your underwear will be soft, wet and squidgy ( I recommend plastic pants as they are easier to hose off afterwards).
15-40 is an obvious choice and this match should be ideal for that strategy.
Serena should win but Venus is due a victory if you believe that they share out the finals (which I don’t)
Update: Serena won an early break in the first set and ran away with it to win 6-3. The second set was much closer and Venus seemed to be in charge but her sister pulled her back to a tie break.
Serena won 6-3, 7-6.
