16:00 – Gil v Robredo
Rankings are 85 and 36. They haven’t played before.
Gil has been playing on the Challenger tour and has been quite successful over recent weeks. He has reached a couple of quarter finals. He also won the event in Milan in June.
Robredo isn’t having a great season. His best performances came last week when he reached the semi finals of the Swedish open losing to Almagro.
If you look at stats for the past month only then Robredo’s first serve percntage has been 78% to Gil’s 68%. They both win 67% of points on their own service.
Gil has held serve 93% of the time to Robredo’s 80%. Break points saved are Gil 85% and Robredo 52%. Ofcourse Gil has been facing much lower ranked opponents.
Robredo’s experience should see him through. Back him on serve.
Update: Robredo got off to the best start possible and broke serve in the first game. He went onto take the first set.
Gil started the second set very well and took a 3-0 lead but Robredo pulled him back. However Gil took the set 7-5. In the third set Robredo fell apart and Gil took the set and with it the match.
Gil won 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
