12:00 – Kleybanova v Ivanovic
Rankings are 27 and 38. Head to heads are 3-2 to Kleybanova.
Kleybanova won the Korea Open last week losing just one set along the way.
Ivanovic lost in the first round of that tournament to Dushevina.
Both have served well over the last month with serve being held 72% and 67%. Kleybanova is much more successful against first serves than her opponent and wins 50% of points against first serves.
Ivanovic is favourite on betfair but I have to give the edge to Kleybanova. On current form and on her preferred surface I feel she will come through.
Be careful of laying Kleybanova on her serve. Scalping should work well. If Kleybanova is holding consistently she can be backed on serve.
Update: Ivanovic played an excellent match and took full advantage of Kleybanova being a little tired.
Ivanovic won 6-3, 6-2.
14:00 – Georges v Safina
Rankings are 42 and 49. Head to heads are 1-0 to Safina.
Georges has been poor recently and hasn’t enjoyed much success.
Safina has reached a couple of Quarter Finals. Her serve isn’t working consistently well and has been holding serve just 58% of the time but her fighting spirit is well on its way back.
I would have to go with Safina today and scalping and 15-40 should work well.
Update: Georges won 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
