Tuesday’s Matches

Monaco seems a good price against Bolelli at 1.64 but be careful. The Argentinian pulled out of his match last week due to a foot injury. probably one to leave alone unless you have live video and even then is it worth the risk when there are so many other matches?

Update: Monaco would appear to be fine. he won 6-3, 7-5.

Granollers v Gimeno Traver: Head to heads are 2-2 but Granollers won their last 2 matches which were both on clay. He reached the quarter finals last week losing to eventual champion Ferrero and has been playing some great tennis. Gimeno Traver has been on a poor run of form and has only been beating nobodies although he took Berlocq to 3 sets last week. If Granollers plays like he has done over the last couple of weeks he should win this easily. Generous price at 1.73 and I will back with half stakes from the start.

Update: Granollers started well. Then I opened my mouth in the chatroom…” Granollers 100% on first serve”. He was immediately broken, then lost the set, then quit.

Gimeno Traver won 6-3(ret)

Benneteau takes on Andujar for the second time in 2 months. Last time out it was Andujar who won in straight sets. Andujar reached the final last week where he was beaten easily by Ferrero. When a player reaches a final or wins an event the previous week we often see a poor perfomance in the first round. However the tournament is in the same country as last week so there’s no real travel involved and Andujar should have enough left in the energy tank to beat Benneteau who doesn’t have a great record on clay.

I think its wise to see how the opening games go and if Andujar seems up for it then I’ll be backing him. A higher price than the current 1.55 would be preferable.

Update: Easy win for Andujar 6-2, 6-2.

Lu is slight favourite against Bachinger in Atlanta. Lu hasn’t played since Wimbledon. He plays his best tennis on grass so the change to hard courts could knock him off his stride. Bachinger reached the final of a Challenger event last week . He played 3 consecutive 3 set matches in that tournament so may be a little fatigued but if he serves well he should be able to get past Lu. Bachinger’s serve can be a little erratic at times so beware. I think a smal lay of Lu is a good starting point. Bachinger has been in America for a few weeks so is settled in well.

Update: Both had chances and both player’s serve failed under pressure. Lu came through 7-5, 7-6.
