Valencia Open – Monday

 16:00 – Stakhovsky v Simon

Rankings are 37 and 48. Head to heads are 1-0 to Simon.

Stakhovsky has been well below his best recently. He has lost 4 of his last 5 matches and 6 of the last 7 in Europe. His confidence is low and this means his touch around the net is much less certain. He has been serving reasonably well holding serve over the last month 75% of the time but without his finesse around the net he is only half a player.

Simon on the other hand has been is excellent form. He had a great win last week against Nalbandian where the Argentinian served for the match yet Simon came back to win 7-5 in the deciding set.

Simon has been holding serve 77% of the time. He also has better stats on return of serve.

On current form I have to go with Simon to win in 2 tight sets.

Back him on serve or from the start.

Update: Simon won 6-3, 6-3.
