Another long list of matches today. In a lot of matches this week it has been advisable to wait for a few games until you’re sure enough traders are interested in the match.

Cirstea has a decent game for grass but this is the first match after the clay season and she isn’t the best at making a fast transition between surfaces. Pironkova usually plays well in the short grass season and has already had a match this week  easily beating Lauren Davis for the loss of just 3 games.

Pironkova starts at 1.61 which isn’t a terrible price as long as Cirstea’s brain doesn’t start working ( never seen it happen before ) and she makes the adjustments to her game quickly. Any price approaching evens is excellent value on Pironkova.

Update: They love to prove me wrong. A tight match but Cirstea served extremely well offering just 2 break points in the whole match.

Cirstea won 6-4, 6-4.

I’m looking forward to watching Hewitt against Dimitrov. Both men faltered a little in their first round matches and Dimitrov seemed to have thrown away the third set against Sela before taking it in a tie break. Hopefully that has helped him get used to the grass courts’ bounce and speed and i expect him to take this one but not before trading higher than his SP of 1.48 . Three sets wouldn’t be a shock but I feel Hewitt needs to take the first.

Update: Hewitt did take that first set and Dimitrov never really got going.

Hewitt won 6-4, 6-3.

Laura Robson has never beaten Hantuchova. Robson’s poor performance against Wozniack at the French Open was blamed on a lower back injury. She also pulled out of the doubles giving that as her reason. Has she had chance to rest that sufficiently? It’s hard to tell but it is bound to be on her mind and may inhibit her play.

This is Robson’s first match on the grass this year whereas Hantuchova has had 1 match to get accustomed to the surface.

This could be tight and a fully fit Robson certainly has the game to win it but I think the back issue will distract her enough for Hantuchova to outlast her in the rallies. I will look to lay Robson below 1.70 .

Update: Only 4 breaks in the whole match and 3 of them came in the first 4 games. Robson was never ahead and Hantuchova won 6-3, 6-4.
