ATP, 16:00 – Karlovic v Wawrinka
Wawrinka leads their previous meetings 4-1. The most recent was last season on a hard court. Wawrinka won in 2 sets. Karlovic’s win was in 2007 on grass.
Wawrinka still hasn’t sorted his head out after the Kyrgios incident. It is likely it caused personal issues for Wawrinka which can be very distracting. He didn’t play well yesterday and Coric took the opening set.
Karlovic had an excellent win over Simon in the first round. He saved all 3 break points against Klizan.
I think Karlovic can take at least a set today. Lay Wawrinka if he breaks first. Lay the set 1 winner.
WTA 18:00 – Pliskova v Jankovic
Jankovic has a better record during the last 3 months. She has won 8 of her last 10 matches.
Pliskova reached the final recently in Stanford. The next week she had a loss to Lucic Baroni. She beat Babos this week but didn’t serve as we know she can.
Jankovic’s only loss in the last 3 tournaments came against Halep in Toronto.
I am giving a slight edge to Jankovic. If Pliskova comes out and serves at her best level then she can take the match but she hasn’t managed that in her last 2 matches.
Lay Pliskova if she gets an early break. Three sets are a real possibility.
