Pliskova leads their previous meetings 3-2. Their last match was in September 2015 and Pliskova won on a hard court in 3 sets. She leads 2-1 on hardcourts.
Lucic Baroni tried to hit the cover off the ball in the last round and it paid off. It’s a high risk strategy from someone who for me looked edgy in the 3rd round win over Sakkari.
Pliskova has made herself a little less erratic and has improved her movement a little too in the last 12 months. She is still capable of bad periods in matches and I think if Lucic Baroni can hit the lines as she did in the last match then we can see this going the distance.
Pliskova starts too low at 1.25 and is a lay from the start. Remove or reduce liability if Pliskova is broken. I think when we get to the vital points towards the end of sets Lucic Baroni will be the one to struggle to hold everything together.
