This will be played on clay in Italy.
Schiavone has won both of their previous matches. Their last meeting was in September 2014 and she won in straight sets on a hard court.
Schiavone’s clay stats last year were stronger. She is still inconsistent at times on
clay but less so than on other surfaces. This is a very important match for the tie as Errani will be expected to win her first match. The Italian crowd go nuts for Fed Cup matches and it will be an intimidating atmosphere.
Cepelova had an up and down season in 2016. This year hasn’t started so well either and she has already had injury issues which caused her to withdraw from her second round of qualifying match in Sydney.
I will wait for 1.90 on Schiavone. I think we will get some breaks of serve especially in the opening set.
Update: The match was cancelled when Cepelova was replaced by Schmiedlova. Schiavone beat her in 2 sets.
