They have played just once before. That was on a hard court in Monterrey in February 2016. Flipkens won that day in straight sets.
Kontaveit has better over all results this season. She has won 34 of her 44 matches so far. She has performed well on all surfaces. In the last round she lost the opening set to Kristyna Pliskova in a tie break but Was in control of the match once she found a break
mid way through set 2.
Flipkens had a little success early in the season with a quarter final in Acapulco and third round in Miami. Both those tournaments were on hard courts. She had an easy win over Brengle in the first round this week. She played well but Brengle was poor.
Kontaveit has a better career record on grass and I give her the edge today but I will wait for 1.75 or better. She starts around 1.50.
