Konta won their only previous match at the Australian Open in January 2013. She won in 3 sets on a hard court. Both players were ranked outside the top 150 for that match. They have both improved a great deal.
Konta lost her only set of the week to Pironkova in the 2nd round. I thought Bencic was over her injury issues and would give her a tough match but she won just 3 games. Konta is very tough mentally and has been in strong form recently.
Sevastova has not lost a set so far and beat Muguruza in the second round. She has only once reached the 4th round at a slam which was at the Australian Open in 2011. Konta reached the 4th round last year and also the semis of the Australian Open this year.
There is a chance this goes to 3 sets but I have to favour Konta. I rarely feel comfortable backing any woman at this price so will wait for a better entry. Ideally Konta gets broken early and then Sevastova holds.
