ATP St Petersburg Open, Quarter Final: Struff v Tsonga, 2pm

Struff 3.50, Tsonga 1.38

Tsonga has won all 3 of their previous matches. Their last meeting was at the French Open in May 2016. He won in straight sets on clay.  He won their only indoor match in 2014, 2 tight sets.

Tsonga has won 12 of 13 indoors this season. He won consecutive titles in February. He has not been at his best lately and needed 3 sets to get past Sousa in the last round. He only faced 3 break points and was broken just once which was enough to lose him the second set.

Struff has played very well this week. He lost his opening set of the week to Coric but since then his serve has been more solid. He faced 13 break points against Fabbiano in the last round but was only broken twice.

I can see this going to 3 sets so we have some value on Struff. Lay Tsonga around 1.25 and remove liability if he gets broken.

WTA Guangzhou Open, Semi Final: Wickmayer v Krunic, 11:00

Wickmayer 2.32, Krunic 1.75

Wickmayer has won all 3 of their previous meetings. They last met in a federation Cup tie  in April last year. Wickmayer won on clay in 3 sets.

This season Krunic has better overall results and has also been stronger on hard courts. She won 65% of her hard court matches in 2017 compared to 56% for Wickmayer. Krunic also has a higher ROI. She has been impressive this week and has not lost a set. She had to work hard in the first round against Tsurenko but was more comfortable against Barthel and Peterson.

Aleksandra Krunic

Wickmayer had served very well in her first 2 matches. Against Cornet in the quarter final she came under a lot of pressure for the first time this week. Cornet has a knack of dragging opponents down to her level of serving and that was certainly the case in their second set that ended with Wickmayer winning it in a tie break. In that set Wickmayer faced 7 break points and was broken 4 times

This should be a good match and despite their head to head record I favour Krunic for this one. Wait for 1.90.

Update: Krunic won 6-3, 6-3.
