ATP Monte Carlo: Fucsovics v Medvedev

Due to start at 2:30 pm

Fucsovics 1.84, Medvedev 2.12

Medvedev won their only previous match.  That was in August 2016 in the quarter final of a hard court Challenger. He won in straight sets.

Fucsovics has better overall results for the last 12 months. Medvedev has better 2018 results.

Medvedev has a pretty poor record on clay. He lost all 4 of his clay matches in the last 12 months.

Fucsovics won 17 of 27 on clay in the last 12 months. His successful weeks on clay in the last year were all in Challenger tournaments. One title, 2 semi finals and 3 quarter finals in 2017.

One third stake on Fucsovics at the start and add to the position above 2.20.

WTA Bogota, Quarter Final: Jakupovic v Linette

Linette starts as slight favourite but Jakupovic has the edge today

Due to start at 3 pm

Jakupovic 2.04, Linette 1.94

Jakupovic leads their previous meetings 3-1. They last met in a clay ITF tournament in India in February 2015. Jakupovic won in 2 easy sets.  Jakupovic has won both their clay meetings.

Head to head info from Tennis Insight

Jakupovic has stronger overall results in the last 12 months and also this year. She leads 72% v 52% of matches won this year. Jakupovic also has the edge on clay in the last  year.

Stats for the tournament favour Jakupovic. She has not lost a set so far. All 4 of her sets were won 6-2.  In her first match she was underdog against Alison Riske but saved both break points she faced. In the last round she was a strongish favourite over Kostova.  Kostova has a poor day from the service line but did manage to break Jakupovic 3 times.

Linette has also not lost a set this week. She was favourite in both her matches. In her first match she was broken 6 times although did not face a single break point in the last round.

Value on Jakupovic. Lay Linette below 1.70 or wait for her to break serve before laying her.

ATP US Men’s Clay Court Championship, Houston: Isner v Johnson

The sets will be close but Isner is the better clay player

Due to start at midnight

Isner 1.63, Johnson 2.56

Head to heads are 4-4. The most recent meeting was in February 2017 in Acapulco. Johnson won in straight sets o a hard court. He has won their last 3 matches. All on hard courts. Isner won both their clay matches. Both were in 2015.

Head to head 4-4

Head to head info from Tennis Insight

Johnson won the title in Houston last year. Isner won the title in 2013.

Isner returned pretty well in the last round. He didn’t face a single break point. He is a pretty decent clay player. He reached the 4th round of the French Open in 2016 and third round last season. He also reached the semi finals in Rome last year beating Ramos, Wawrinka and Cilic.

John Isner

Johnson played a solid match to beat Tiafoe in straight sets. He served strongly and was broken just once from 7 break chances.  In his first match of the week he beat Ernesto Escobedo after losing the opening set. Set two went to a tie break. He was also only broken once in the 3 sets.

Some value on Johnson and I think we will get 3 sets. Back Isner above 1.85.

Update: The sets WERE close. Johnson won 7-6, 4-6, 7-6
