Diary

Another quiet day! We decided that we are going to have gravel in the front garden where I have removed the bushes. It will really tidy it up. I looked around online for one of those Jumbo bags. They are around 700 to 900kg depending on where you get them from. The prices were about £150 to £190 plus delivery and every one I found said they did kerbside delivery. To me that means they dump it on the public pavement. I had that once when I ordered concrete posts and fence panels for the back garden. I asked the driver to at least drop them near the front gate. He was a bit of a twat and insisted on just dropping the pallet where he had parked which was towards the back of the property. I had to carry everything to the front, through the gate and then the whole length of the property to get them into the back garden. We have a 7ft wall around the back garden.

I kept checking and found that Wickes do them for £50 delivered and they will drop it wherever you want it as long at their crane reaches. Perfect! I checked availability at the local store. They have 1 in stock but when I got to the checkout it says they don’t have any in my area. Bugger. I’ll have to keep checking. I did chat to a Wickes customer service person who advised to check again on Monday as that’s when they update stock levels. Not hugely helpful but everything is fucked up these days.

The dogs had a rare daylight outing today. We had the field more or less to ourselves. The dogs enjoyed it and it was a very relaxing walk in the sun.

I had noticed a couple of root clumps that I somehow missed last week. I also wanted to level off one area of the garden before I put the membrane and gravel down. Last week’s rain meant the ground was not as hard and I was done in 20 minutes.

I have just been scrolling through Twitter and it seems that Boris has said during PM questions that the lockdown could be eased from Monday. I would think that even if there are changes they won’t be huge. Once again we get fed a little bit of information and have to wait for details. He will make a full statement on Sunday. There will be people out there who will not wait for the details. All they will hear is PAAAAAARTAAAAAYYYYY! Personally I think it is too soon. At least another 3 weeks would seem more sensible. I do know there are a lot of people struggling and maybe the government want to give a bit of hope to those people. I’m glad I don’t have to make those decisions.

Any suggestions for what the next slogan will be?

There has been a report out today with updated data that shows the peak in the UK was on April 8th.

It’s going to be an interesting few days.

The Bundasliga will be restarting later this month. It will be good to see things at least starting to get on that long road to normal town.

Stay safe.

TradeShark Diary, 5th May 2020

The first delivery of plants arrived at lunchtime. I had an email this morning to say they were on their way so Sue started preparing all the pots, planters and hanging baskets. I’m glad we got some before she goes back to work on Friday. The anticipation of her next shift always affects her mood and as she has been off for almost 2 weeks she welcomed having something to concentrate on.

I have had a quiet day so far. I have 1 more webinar from 2010 to add a commentary to. I’m sure I did another one but I can’t find it. I certainly remember doing a live stream in which I had around £95 profit and tried and failed to top it up to £100! I can’t imagine that I live streamed without recording. I looked through an old hard drive without any luck.

I did find a few photos that brought back memories. This one of Charlie as a pup. Shortly before I walked in he had gone into the kitchen where Sue was with some bits hanging out of his mouth. She thought he had eaten the sofa!

Charlie ate his bed

No tennis worth trading until Friday and just the one Turkmenistan match. The over 2.5 goals markets have been a bit strange on those matches with the price staying pretty static for a long time.

I keep getting emails from copywriters offering to make my site more compelling. Cheek! It’s converting really well. I did spend a little time this afternoon googling copy tips and tricks. I’ve made a couple of small tweaks but overall I think it’s doing a great job.

That’s it for today. Stay safe.
