Update: Muchova took a 4-0 lead in the first set. The only break point she faced in the set was when serving for the set at 5-2.

I did not lay her at the start of the second set. She broke in the first game. I place a small lay on her as a leading player often relaxes when a set and a break ahead. However, she held her next 2 service games to 15 so I exited for a small red.

Muchova went on to break again to take the set. She did not face a break point in the second set.

Muchova won 6-2, 6-3.

Volynets 2-0. Most recent March 2023, hard, 2 sets. She won on hard in 2018, 2 sets. Hard win %’s favour Volynets.

Volynets reached the 3rd round last year. Quarter finals in Auckland 2025.

Stearns reached the 3rd round last season. 3rd Round in Dubai 2025.

12 month and 2025 stats are a little better for Stearns on serve. Recent performances are better for Volynets. Chance of 3 sets.
Back Volynets around 2.20 to 2.30 and remove liability at 1.70.

Update: Volynets was broken in her second service game to go 1-3 behind. I backed her. 3 games later, Stearns went 15-40 behind on her serve. I removed some of my liability. She saved one of the break points but was broken.
Volynets held serve in the next game after saving a break point. They were at 4-4. In the next game, Stearns was broken. Volynets successfully served for the set at 5-4. I hedged evenly.

Stearns served first in the second set. I often wait until the set loser has their service game before laying the set winner but as I had some green to play with, I laid Volynets at the start of the set.
Stearns held easily and then broke Volynets in the next game. I held my position as it was risk free. Volynets immediately broke back. She was broken again in the next game to trail 1-3. An easy hold for Stearns followed by another break of the Volynets serve took them to 5-1 and I hedged evenly.

I was not involved in the third set but Volynets took it with 2 breaks of serve.

Volynets won 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
