There are 4 matches today but I am only interested in 2 of them. As I am going to say in all matches this month this is an exhibition and you are advised to use reduced stakes.
The matches are not yet on Betfair but this event’s matches were on there yesterday.
There is no change to WTA rules. They play the best of 3 normal sets.
Kuzmova (3.94) v Vondrousova (1.31) – Prices from Pinnacle
Due to start at 1 pm.
Kuzmova won their only previous meeting. That was in 2016 in an ITF clay tournament. She won in a third set tie break.
Kuzmova has better overall results in the last 12 months. Vondrousova missed the second half of last season and had surgery in a wrist injury.
Kuzmova has played just 4 matches during the pandemic. She won them all. Three were on clay. Yesterday she beat Martincova in 3 sets. It was a very tight match with each player only being broken once.
Vondrousova has played 5 matches during Covid-19. She has won 3 of them including yesterday’s match with Schmiedlova. She lost just 3 games in her only hard court match of the lockdown. Schmiedlova was poor but Vondrousova played well. She faced 3 break points which were all saved.
Vondrousova starts priced too low today. The score against Schmiedlova flattered her. She will have to work harder today.
Lay Vondrousova around 1.20 to 1.25 and remove liability around 1.60. Lay the set 1 winner.
Schmiedlova (3.00) v Martincova (1.36) – Prices from Pinnacle
Due to start at 2:30 pm
This will be their first meeting.
Overall results strongly favour Martincova in the last 12 months.
Schmiedlova has played 4 matches during lockdown. She beat 2 low ranked opponents but won just 1 game against Bencic on clay and 3 games against Vondrousova yesterday.
Martincova has played 7 matches since the tour was suspended in March. She has had some excellent results. She lost 3 matches but only Karolina Pliskova beat her in straight sets.
This really should be comfortable for Martincova. Ideally she gets broken at the start of the match to give us a better price.
