Paire 2-1. Most recent Jan 2020, hard, Paire in 3 sets. He won on hard in 2016, 5 sets.
Both have poor long term hard results but both have raised their game on hard recently. Lajovic made the 3rd round in Toronto. Paire reached the q finals in Cinci.
This won’t be over in 3 sets. I give Paire the edge. Back him around 2.20. Lay set 1 winner.
Update: Paire played better when he went behind, which was often. There was only one bp in set 1 and it went to Lajovic. In set 2, Lajovic broke serve in the first game. Paire broke back immediately. Lajovic broke again to leads 3-2. Paire broke back for 4-4. A lte break gave Lajovic the chance to serve out the set which he did easily.
In set 3 Paire was the more consistent and broke Lajovic twice. Set 4 started with Paire being broken and immediately breaking back. Paire served at 3-3 and was broken after saving 4 bp. Lajovic held on to take the match.
Lajovic won 6-3, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.

Bautista Agut v Kyrgios

H2H 1-1 Most recent Jan 2020, hard, Bautista Agut in 2. Kyrgios won on hard in 2015.
Bautista Agut has better hard results in the last 12 months and in 2021. Kyrgios won 5 of 10 this season.
Bautista Agut reached the 3rd round in Toronto, semis in Miami in March and the final in Doha in March.
Kyrgios made the 3rd round at the Aus Open. His last 3 matches on hard were losses to Norrie, McDonald and Opelka. If he finds some inspiration tonight he can win this but he hasn’t shown his best form for a while.
Back Bautista Agut above 2.20 and remove liability at 1.65. Lay set 1 winner.
Update: Agut faced a bp in the first game of the match but held. He won the only break of the set to lead 4-2. He took set 2 with a single break and a sulking Kyrgios didn’t win a game in set 3.
Bautista Agut won 6-3, 6-4, 6-0.
