Andy Murray, the BBC Sport Columnist, writes about playing the US Open and the Battle of the Brits.

Dan Evans has said that Djokovic must fee some responsibility for the fuck up that was the Adria Tour exhibition. I’m paraphrasing a little.

On Monday Viktor Troicki, who was Novax Djocovid’s doubles partner at the Adria exhibition, tested positive for covid-19.

“It is true that my wife and I are positive. She was tested on Friday and my daughter and I on Sunday after we found out she was positive. My daughter is negative, and my wife and I are positive,” Troicki said. Troicki and Djokovic are really good friends. Recently at ATP Cup, they played doubles together and did not drop a match in the event. (from EssentiallySports.com)

Alexander Zverev has insisted he is “deeply” sorry for putting anybody in danger of catching the deadly coronavirus by competing in the Adria Tour. Sunday’s final in Zadar, Croatia was cancelled after it emerged Grigor Dimitrov had contracted COVID-19.

The Battle of the Brits starts this afternoon at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre in London. It finishes on Sunday.

They will play a round robin format. Matches are the best of 3 but with a match tie break in a deciding set.

Making up the Tim Henman singles group are, James Ward, Liam Broady, Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund.

The Greg Rusedski group consists of Jack Draper, Jay Clarke, Cam Norrie and Dan Evans.

There is also a doubles tournament that includes Jamie Murray who co-organised the event. The matches will be shown on Prime Video.

Yet another quiet day for me on Monday. I made a start on painting the kitchen. It is more of a touch up than a full repaint. There are lots of marks on the walls from explosions of various foods and beverages and also from the dogs. The coffee machine sprayed hot milk from a latte over one of the walls ( and also Charlie!). That wall looks like new now.

As the better weather returns this week I am looing to get rid of all the unwanted crap from the shed and garden.

Let’s see what changes old Boris is going to make on the lockdown rules. I think he is announcing them at lunchtime in the Commons.

TradeShark Diary, 22nd June 2020

Grigor Dimitrov has tested positive for Covid-19 after taking part in the Andria exhibition in Croatia. There are no social distancing rules in Croatia and looking at some of the photos from the event the players were not being very careful either.

Borna Coric was also infected at the Andria exhibition which was organised by Djokovic and criticised for its lack of safety precautions.

Djokovic’s event also infected a coach and a fitness coach. Djokovic himself left the venue without being tested as he had no symptoms. Arrogant prick.

When the tours start up in August they WILL have strict rules in place. Djokovic has been complaining that the proposed measures at the US Open are too harsh. Now he has seen first hand why they are necessary. Hopefully the tennis authorities strongly suggest that he self isolates at home.

It is a quiet day for me with Sue working until 7:30 pm. Just me and the dogs.

There was a leaked “unofficial” letter doing the rounds in Worcester. It talks of a spike in cases and that a local lockdown may be introduced. At Worcester Hospital yesterday 13 of the 22 beds on the covid-19 ward were empty.

Stay safe.
