One of the strip lights in the kitchen blew. It has been 2 years since I had to replace one of them so I can’t complain. As the Homebase store is open again I thought I would go down there this afternoon. I’m not sure what I was expecting. Obviously there would be social distancing measures in place but I wasn’t expecting a queue almost as far as Burger King. Sod that. I don’t mind a bit of a queue for food but I’m not queuing for half the afternoon to buy a light bulb.
I had almost bought one online last night when I was ordering a replacement diffuser for the same light fitting. We are overdue a new diffuser. The current one was a bit ropey when we moved in. It’s ok if you don’t touch it but falls apart if you do. The diffuser arrives on Monday but I can’t get a replacement bulb until a week on Saturday! Luckily it’s a twin light fitting and the other bulb is fine.
Sue is working tomorrow. We know what that means! ME DAY! It also means that she will be going to bed ridiculously early tonight. Probably before 8 pm. Sue’s is always banging on about how I have to have the TV remote. In our home having the remote has sod all to do with what we watch. Occasionally there is something on that we both want to watch. At ALL other times we watch what she wants. Except, of course, when she’s not there. Then I get to watch something other than documentaries about women killing men. Just in case I have told her that my life insurance isn’t valid for another year. It is but she doesn’t need to know that.
Anyway it’s going to be a great few days. Steak for tea. I get to choose the channel tonight. Day to myself tomorrow. She is on day off on Sunday but is back in on Monday so will be in bed early again. Also if it rains on Sunday the BBQ will be cancelled and we’ll have a roast dinner. The stars are aligned quite nicely it seems.
The staff on Sue’s ward are getting antibody tests from today. I don’t know why it has taken so long. It will be interesting to see if she has had it. She has symptoms at the end of February but when she told them at work it was jokingly suggested that it was Coronavirus.
Have a great weekend.
Stay safe.
