These tips are taken from the Tennis Trading Tips email. Get information, stats and tips on every main tour match 7 days a week. Every day, I research all the ATP and WTA matches and write trading notes for my own use. I refer to these notes during the trading session and will not trade a match until I have used the notes to remind me of my trading plan for that match.

ATP Paris Masters, First round

Murray v Brooksby

Due to start at 6:30 pm

1st meeting. Their win %’s indoors are even. Brooksby has better indoor results in the last year.

Since March, Murray has played well in 1st rounds but has only once managed 2 indoor wins in a week. He reached the q finals in Metz in September.

Brooksby reached the semis in Antwerp as qualifier last month. All his other good results indoors were in Challengers and ITF’s.

Back Murray around 2.10 and remove liability at 1.60

 

WTA Cluj-Napoca, Final

Halep v Kontaveit

Due to start at 4:30 pm

Halep 3-0. Most recent Jan 2020, hard court, 2 sets. She won all their matches in 2 sets.

Long term overall win % are pretty even. Long term indoor results favour Kontaveit. She won 41 of her last 50. Halep won 31 of 50. Kontaveit has won all 14 of her indoor matches in 2021.

Neither player has lost a set. Stats for the tournament favour Halep. Stats for their last 10 indoor matches favour Halep for everything except service holds.

Kontaveit has been in superb form and won the title last week. She has to feeling tired after all those matches. She will need to be at her best to win this one. Lay Kontaveit around 1.65 and remove liability at 2.10. Lay the set 1 winner. I give Halep to win. Hopefully this isn’t one of those big matches where she just fails to turn up mentally!

Update: Unfortunately, having said i hoped that this wasn’t a big match that Halep didn’t turn up for, that’s exactly what happened! She had the first bp of the final but didn’t take it. She was broken in the next game and would lose her serve 3 times in the set. Laying the set winner worked out as Halep took a 2-0 lead. She then lost the next 5 games.

Kontaveit won 6-2, 6-3.
